The project site is located in the historical centre of Olomouc, near Saint Wenceslav cathedral. The house no.19 is a cultural heritage. It is baroque terrace house that was reconstructed in the 19th century. The house no.21 holds a lot of historical value as well, but it is not a cultural heritage. The Renaissance core has been further modified in the classical period. The site includes a construction on the patio that once used to be smokehouse. It is currently closed off due to its very poor static condition.
In order to make good use of the yard that has been neglected and overgrown the new design proposes to expand the Irish bar all the way to the border with the neighbour’s site. This solution enables to accommodate a standard restroom in a smaller construction and be able to use the full potential of the yard floor space.
The plan is to preserve, strengthen and clean up the back walls on the houses. We also intend to keep the rustic look of the front combined and add on modern elements and new roof. The roof would be drawing from the original shape and tilt. The buildings are going to be connected to the Irish bar via an outdoor staircase so they can be well used for workshops and other events.
A new building of the Academy of Sciences in Brno, which will serve as a facility for laboratories, workshops and lectures.
