The city of Olomouc commissioned the replacement of the existing bridge over the Bystřička river with a new bridge structure near Milady Horákové Street. The structural design of the bridge was developed by the SHP engineering office under the direction of Ing. Vladimír Půda. Our studio was entrusted with the design of the bridge’s upper architectural elements, with a particular focus on the bridge railing system.

The main requirement of the assignment was to remain within the given budget while providing the bridge with a dignified appearance appropriate to the character of the site.The design proposes a simple and lightweight structure with an arched motif incorporated into the bridge columns. This principle is also applied to the arched approach sections of the bridge deck. The columns are designed at two different heights. The upper level incorporates a handrail, while the lower tubular section integrates LED lighting to illuminate the pedestrian and cyclist pathway.
