We were tasked to design an extension to the student residency to fulfill as a short-term accommodation needs for the FTK Palacky University guests in Olomouc. The investor’s requirement was to accommodate 28 guests. We split them up into 7 apartments.
Each apartment consists of entrance hall, a bathroom and 2 rooms with 2 beds in each of the rooms. The social room and kitchen are shared. There’s also a covered staircase leading from the main corridor to the rooftop, which serves as a social outdoor space.
Our idea was to go with the cubes concept and place them on the rooftop. Every cube would be of different size and height in order to achieve gentler look. The random placement of the cubes creates variety of outdoor terrace space that provide enough privacy for each apartment.
The design of a kindergarten, which is playful with its layout and volume solution rather than a wild game of colors.
