The heritage house is situated in the heart of the historical city of Olomouc. It is composed of 3 blocks that desperately call for a redesign. We were asked to find a suitable solution to modernize the building while retaining the historical elements and the spirit.
There are three buildings in the courtyard. We want to create a courtyard tract that will live, that will have its own distinctive character, where people who will live in the building, as well as those who just pass by, will be able to stay against the background of the quality architecture of the houses.
After the completion of the demolition work of the modern elements, residential units on the upper floors and commercial spaces on the ground floor will be built into these buildings. The yard tract should thus be a publicly accessible space. The currently considered use of the commercial space is a restaurant or cafe, so the yard could also be used for pleasant exterior sitting. The now dead and unused spaces would thus be breathed new life.
The construction of the ground-floor family house is designed as a composition of black volumes with a gable roof and the white one with a flat roof.
