The goal of this project was not only the new hospital design, but overall redesign of the city quarter. The intended area should connect already existing and the brand-new units.
The inner part of the hospital area is designed to provide urban space with services and stores. The core of the hospital design draws from a single building concept, aligned from the north to the south. In the second step of the design plan, we considered different departments and operational units and decided to protrude the segments opposite each other to ensure the maximum day light available for each one of them. These modules are connected by a single line in the middle which serves as the main line of the hospital, the communication axis.
The center of this building concept is the Diagnosis and Healing Unit. This unit is directly connected to the ambulance service with a parking lot and public transit services on its north side. The patient rooms are located in the quieter south side of the hospital.
The old villa has undergone a series of insensitive interventions. It is currently being restored in the original spirit and supplemented by a contemporary extension.
